I want to participate to a photo competition. The subject is "show the town where you live".
Do you have any suggestion, of post production of something else, to have a better photo.
Thank you for your help.
Well it's a nice shot with good composition ... the flowers, the boats, the factors, the clouds. I would crop a few cm off the bottom to remove the blurry white section. Other than that the Highlight/Shadow feature in Photoshop CS might help.
Nadege - you have a nice shot here - looks like a beautiful place to live!
I love the bright flowers in the foreground and the canal.
A couple of things I would personally do different...
- cut a few cm off bottom as Aaron said to remove white in bottom left
- crop some of the top too - the blue section above the clouds does not add much to the overall shot (keep a little of it but not so much)
If you could reshoot this image (assuming it is close to where you live) I would keep some things in mind
- try to get less railing at the bottom while keeping the flowers - maybe change your angle so you are looking straight ahead instead of down
- keep the composition simple - there are some nice elements in the photo but it may be a little busy (toom many different things overlapping like the crane on the towers and the blue flowers tips and the buildings)
- experiment with different lighting - in the morning or evening depending on which direction you are taking this from you can get some more dramatic light and shadows
- experiment using a longer exposure right before the sun is up or just after it is down is a good time to do this and get a rich saturated shot.
hope you got all that - ask Aaron to translate if it is unclear ;-)
If you don't reshoot this is a nice photo and cropping in a bit tighter should help!

Love the way the smoke merges with the clouds. You must try this shot with the above suggestions.
